Armocromy

A life in palette

To create harmony with the colours you wear, how important is the armocromy session?

Armocromy is what happens when colours envelop you and make you look more beautiful.

Harmony is a word you will hear me use a lot, because it represents my vision of colour consulting done with criteria.

The eye rests, and visual relaxation sets in the moment you know how to choose the ideal colour combination on you!

Surely it has happened to you that you have bought accessories or clothing that you have worn only once or never?

It often happens, because in the shop you get caught up in the enthusiasm, only to discover that garment is not suited to your colour palette and because it's disharmonious, not at all flattering, because the light it gives off isn't yours.

The eye understands disharmony and shows it to you when you look in the mirror.

This the reason why the armocromy session plays a primary role in image consulting.

A little bit of history on the birth of armocromy

Armocromy was born with the spread of colour cinema in the 1930s/40s and was consolidated in the 1970s.

Among the first image consultants was an American man: John T. Molloy who also wrote many books on the subject of fashion.

Suzanne Caygill formalised her method in the book 'Colour me beautiful 1980', but it was Carol Jackson with 'Colour me beautiful' who triggered the real armocromy boom.

Previously this discipline was theorised in the 1960s by the Swiss painter and designer Johannes Itten in his book 'The Art of Colour' and it's indeed him in 1961 he created the colour circle nicknamed 'Itten's Circle'.

The definition of personal colour categories

According to this theory, colours can be classified into two categories: temperature (warm or cold) and value (light or dark).

From this division Itten grouped all shades into 4 colour categories, corresponding to the 4 seasons andrelating them to people's complexion, hair and eyes.

So, Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter were born, which simply refer to the colours of nature in the various seasons.

A few facts: The origin of this discipline is California.

Today, the countries where armocromy consulting is most in demand are four: Brazil, Japan, Korea and our Italy and where armocromy in Milan is the master.

My work experience

How I become an image consultant :

My career path is made up of many years of study, work with absolute dedication and last but not least a lot of passion for the fashion industry and what I call the 'beauty of the soul'.

At a certain point in my life, all this led me to want to be a welcoming and capable guide, because I believe that beauty is something that goes beyond the aesthetic factor alone.

Wanting to help people feel beautiful and at ease with themselves through caring for their image has become my goal.

I must admit that I have also succeeded thanks to some of the most authoritative professionals in the fashion system who have inspired me for years, and from whom I have learnt much of my work.

One name for all? Giorgio Armani, with whom I had the honour of working for a long time.

From him personally, I acquired some fundamental values that I have made my own, which are: nothing must be left to chance, everything must be taken care of down to the smallest detail with preparation, precision, professionalism, the rest is pure LOVE AND LIGHT  for what you do and for those who receive it.

Thanks to my in-depth knowledge of style and beauty, I decided that I wanted to show those who wish to, how to make the most of themselves, by taking care of their image.

For this reason, in 2019 the brand Niki's glam by Nicoletta Cosolo was born, representing a project of culture and value based on beauty.

Today, as a freelancer, I can say that I made the best choice, giving up a secure job to favour my vocation that has accompanied me since I was a little girl.

And then you are my best answer. Reading the satisfaction in your eyes and in your smile, for having found that sense of well-being and freedom through style, makes me satisfied, happy and fulfilled every time for achieving the goal: to make you feel good !

This is me today, always true to myself and without artifice!

What is armocromy consulting ?

The colour analysis is the first desirable step that precedes other image consultations and that I always suggest.

After having identified through targeted questions, some personal characteristics, such as what kind of reaction your skin has after exposure to the sun and/or after playing sports.

We proceed with acronomy session, by placing a series of coloured drapes on your completely cleansed face, and wrapping your hair and body with a white scarf to make the view neutral.
Observing together what happens, you will see that with some drapes the skin will look duller, while other colours will be more luminous.

Even the lips will look brighter or less depending on the colour.

This way I will be able to identify which of the 4 seasons you belong to, which are:
Spring - Summer Autumn - Winter

Four seasons in armocromy

This  discipline places you in one of the 4 seasons, determing your donor colour palette and the criteria are:

Undertone = Defines the tone whether warm or cold.Summer and Winter are cold undertone, while Spring and Autumn are warm undertone.

Intensity = Defines how pure, saturated, full a colour is, and here too Spring-Summer have very high colour intensities, while Summer and Autumn have a medium-high (light) intensity.

Value = This is defined as light and dark. Winter-Autumn has a medium-low (dark) value, whereas Summer-Spring has a medium-high (light) value.

Contrast = This is determined by natural contrasts, such as between hair/eyes or skin/hair.
Contrast is defined as high if, for example, the person has very light eyes and dark hair, as opposed to a person with light eyes and light hair.

Subgroups in every season

The 3 characteristics for each season give rise, if proportionally present, to the absolute season.

If only one of these characteristics dominates over the others, it will change the subgroup membership in this way:

Winter: Bright,Deep or Cool

Summer: Cool,Light or Soft

Autumn: Soft, Deep and Warm

Spring: Warm, Light and Bright

This means that your personal characteristic can also be found in another season, where we could make use of a few more colours to include in our personal palette.

What are the benefits of knowing your palette?

Colours  in palettes have a "lifting effect" because they do not highlight dyschromia, wrinkles and dark circles, but on the contrary enhance your beauty.

Organise your wardrobe by discarding items in the wrong colours (to give away or sell).

Also consciously use garments in colours that do not belong to your palette, using the complementary colour method.

You will save a lot of time and money for future purchases. It means buying less, better and with a view to durability.

You will always know what colours to buy your clothes in and how to match them with each other with the certainty that they will not remain unused in your wardrobe.

Evaluate the best hair colour to enhance your style and always feel tidy.

Knowing how to choose the most harmonious make-up colours on you, the same for nail polish and the most flattering lipstick to enhance your smile.

The armocromy session is a discipline I thought I would put at your disposal to give a fundamental value to your appearance and make your natural beauty harmonic.
